Italy makes a declaration about captaining the T20 World Cup 2026.

The Italian Cricket Federation (Federazione Cricket Italia) has announced that Wayne Madsen will captain the side for their historic ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign next year. Joe Burns will not be on the team.

In a statement issued late on Tuesday, the governing body reiterated Madsen’s title as team captain, which he was given back in late November. Madsen will serve as the team’s captain for both the international tournament in India and Sri Lanka beginning on February 7 and his team’s bilateral series against Ireland in January.

It will be the Italians’ first participation in a worldwide cricket competition at any level, and they have not yet submitted their roster.
